Planning
Telesis advises public agencies, federal courts, businesses, labor
unions, and nonprofit organizations on housing, economic development
and community planning. Telesis also assists cities and housing
agencies in master planning both neighborhood specific and city-wide
revitalization. Our expertise includes the federal HOPE VI program, for
the redevelopment of public housing, Empowerment Zone planning,
strategic planning, and mixed income neighborhood development.
The housing authorities of Denver, CO; Bradenton and
Sarasota, FL; Wilmington, NC; Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; and Oakland
and Richmond, CA, hired Telesis to assist in the preparation of
revitalization plans to support HOPE VI grants. Telesis created a
comprehensive master plan for the target neighborhood in each city and
organized civic and governmental support. Over $200 million in HOPE VI
funds has been awarded to these cities. Telesis was also retained by
the Hartford Housing Authority to develop a strategic plan for the
revitalization of 2,000-units of housing and secured $13 million for
the plan.
Telesis also designed the Master Plan for Miami-Dade County's
winning Empowerment Zone plan, which projects a redevelopment that
combines hundreds of millions of dollars in grants and private funds to
galvanize reinvestment in Miami-Dade's poorest neighborhoods.
Additional planning includes
appointment by the United States District Court for the Northern
District of Texas, Dallas Division, to administer a housing plan for
Walker Housing Fund as part of a housing desegregation order, and
appointment by the United States District Court for the Southern
District of New York as Housing Special Master responsible for the
monitoring of a housing desegregation Consent Decree.
