Project Profile Chart
This dense, barrack-style public housing was in every way alienated
from the surrounding neighborhood of historic single-family homes on
the south side of Wilmington, North Carolina. Telesis Corporation is
leading the HOPE VI redevelopment of the Jervay site with a new plan of
mixed-income housing that incorporates the best of its
surroundings--architecture in keeping with the history of the town, and
landscape design that enhances its prime location on one of the main
avenues connecting the City to the beach.
The
new plan proposes 190 affordable rental and homeownership units,
including 72 off-site units on property to be acquired for development.
It includes a large public green, a public pavilion, small gardens and
a playground. A community space will host supportive services programs
and facilities.
